In the Church we light candles on the altar to signify that Jesus Christ is the Light of the World and he is coming into our worship space as that LIGHT as we gather in His name. The two separate lights symbolize the HUMANITY and the DIVINITY of Jesus. When we take the light out of the sanctuary that symbolizes that Christ goes before us into the world.
